Local Election Hustings 2026

Once again the local elections are upon us, and this year we have again been asked to hold a hustings for the learning disability, autism, and SEND communities in order that voters from the Southend and SE Essex areas can ask questions of candedates that relate to the issues and needs of the LDA and SEND communitieis locally.

The Making Care Fair team have arranged for 2 hustings meetings to take place in April 2026:

For SE Essex Wards:
1pm to 3pm on Monday 27th April 2026
at Brock's Corner Cafe, Badgers Den, Rochford, SS4 1PX

For Southend City Wards:
3pm to 5pm Thursday 30th April 2026
at Highlands Methodist Church, Sunderland Boulevard, Leigh-on-Sea, SS9 3PT

We have invited each local party that has candedates standing to put up a candedate to represent them at each of the hustings - and for this to be someone who is able to answer questions from the LDA and SEND communityies about issues that affect them.

Please join us for these hustings meetings if you have a question or if you would like to hear what the local political parties have to say on LDA and SEND issues in Southend, Castle Point and Rochford.

Both locations are wheelchair accessible and seating will be on a first come, first seated basis.

Questions will be 50% pre chosen, and 50% from the audience on the day.
